CAN I HIT NINE RAILS?
The Answer Lies on Your Table...
Rich from New York asks: How can I tell how fast my Brunswick Gold Crown 3 is. I just about make the cue ball travel back and forth 4 length or cushions. I saw the players on TV do a trick shot and they hit 9 rails I can only hit 7.
Rich - Great job, even hitting it 7 rails! Regarding the speed of your cloth, that's tough to answer. We don't really have stimp meters in pool the way they do in golf, so without knowing what type of cloth you have, how old it is and what the humidity is like in your room, it's impossible to tell. It could be the table (or rather old cushions on your table) holding you back and/or it could be that your stroke isn't quite up to par with the pros... They DO put a whole lot of practice into these!
The other thing to consider is that the TV lights always heat and dry the table surface, making the table faster... That gives them a decided edge, wouldn't you agree?
